The future of the entire democratic world depends on Ukraine's victory — Victor Pinchuk

Ukraine is now at the centre of history, by which I mean the war in Ukraine is the most consequential in human history. The future of the entire democratic world depends on Ukraine's victory in the war against Russian aggression, stated Victor Pinchuk, founder of the Yalta European Strategy (YES).

“There are two political camps in the world — democracy and autocracy — and they are in a strong conflict. We do not know which will win — in this room, we are all in favour of democracy, and we expect and believe that democracy will win — but this is not obvious to everybody in the world”, — Victor Pinchuk said during his opening remarks at the annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) "The Future Is Being Decided in Ukraine", organized by YES in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

“The way this war ends will carry consequences for the decision about where billions of people will decide to go — will they go with Russia and China — or will they support the US, Europe, and the West?”.

Mr Pinchuk went on to thank Western countries for their support and called on world leaders to take decisive action.

“The difference between a good leader and a great leader is that a good leader does what is possible when possible, whereas great leaders do what is possible when needed. Western leaders need to be great leaders — to recognise that they need to act now — for the future of all humankind”, — said Victor Pinchuk.
