Ukraine deserves liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union and the European parliament should vote on this issue in early October, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said. Poroshenko was speaking to the 13th Annual Meeting of the Yalta European Strategy on its first session day.

“Liberalization of the visa regime is very important, Ukraine deserves this… I hope that in the beginning of October the European parliament will vote to support of this decision. This is important to secure the peaceful settlement of the Donbass conflict and to free Crimea”, - Poroshenko said.

Poroshenko also said that Ukraine has satisfied a total of 144 criteria for the liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union states and received a respective report by the evaluation commission to this effect.

“We put the corner stone of the building of great changes. The truth is on our side and we are intended to proceed”, - Poroshenko said.
