The Ukrainian businessman, public figure, and founder of Yalta European Strategy (YES), Victor Pinchuk, today opened the plenary sessions of the 10th YES Annual Meeting entitled “Changing Ukraine in a Changing World: Factors of Success”, at the historic  Livadia Palace, Yalta, Ukraine.

Addressing the participants of the 10th Annual Meeting, Victor Pinchuk focused their attention on the picture “Beautiful Romance in an Age of Uncertainty”, by the artist Damien Hirst, exhibited in the White Hall of the Livadia Palace. “We can see an explosion represented here. What kind of explosion is this? I hope it is not chemical weapons. I hope it is an explosion giving birth to something new – a new Europe, new economy, and new generation. As has been our tradition at the Yalta meetings, I hope we witness this year the birth of a new star – Ukraine. We will be speaking specifically about the birth of this new star over the next few days.” Pinchuk said.

At the end of his speech, the YES founder turned the floor over to the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych and the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė – to hear their thoughts on the future of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė officially opened the 10th Yalta Annual Meeting on September 20th. They presented their visions on how to create synergies for Wider Europe.

The 10th Yalta Annual Meeting will focus on factors of success that create strong, competitive, sustainable and fair countries and societies. Among the topics will be the global economy, energy security, threats and innovations transforming our lives, as well as successful leadership approaches. Special attention will be paid to the future of Wider Europe and Ukraine’s cooperation and integration perspectives.
