The next decade will see  a period of competition between conventional and renewable energy sources, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yuriy Boyko, stated at the 10th Annual Meeting of YES “Changing Ukraine in a Changing World: Factors of Success” in the Crimean’s Livadia Palace on Friday.

“Throughout the previous decade, we have been talking about a technical revolution in the production of shale gas, and a technical revolution in the production of alternative energy sources. The energy market is changing today,” the Ukrainian Government member stated at the discussion “Energy: Threats, Solutions, Revolutions”.  “Within the next ten years, as I see it, new energy sources that develop and become increasingly more productive and efficient,  will form natural competition to conventional energy sources”.

Boyko added: “This means that more and more money will shift from conventional energy sources to new technologies, and the competition will lead to a cut in energy sector prices.
